    LWD Marino-Control Empty LWD Marino-Control

    Post by loui-mh 06.11.20 17:00

    Cheers everyone!

Having a lot of time during the last Corona-months, our german community had some small meetings and many online games and tournaments including the last two IDCs we organized (thanks to @Halfar for taking the lead in the organization!). During this time I rebuilt nearly all my decks and brought them (back) into shape.

I guess pretty much all cards and their functions used in those decks are well known, so I think it’s only necessary to mention those cards or techs which I think aren’t played that often (especially in our german meta) or aren’t seen in other decks.
Check them out and let me know what you think of them!

    Please note:
All those decks are constructed on the basis of our german meta (hardcore discard and draw based, Bombazar (un-)officially banned, no maximum card limit and no further restrictions), so cards like Corile, Mist Rias, Swap, Slash Charger and Bolly are cards that can be played four times.

    LWD Marino-Control (45)

    Light (16)
    4x Sarius
    4x Magris
    2x Kolon
    4x Craze
    2x Holy Awe

    Water (5)
    4x Marino
    1x Thrash Crawler

    Darkness (16)
    2x Slash Charger
    1x Corpse Charger
    1x Morbid
    4x Loco
    2x Clamp
    4x Pit
    2x Lost Soul

    Multi (8 )
    3x Tajimal
    3x Miraculous Snare
    2x Bluum

    Description
Definitely one of my strongest and most consistent decks. I really like the balance between Light and Darkness (both 16 cards… the OCD is way too high) and the small amount of Water. Only those four Marinos and one Thrash Crawler as a mana recycle option to get back Craze or Bluum or the reuse the Chargers.
As in my GRUB I always play a split between Corpse Charger and Morbid (unless Carnival is more useful in race based decks). I like both advantages to gain mana with Corpse or get back two creatures with Morbid.
Slash Charger to get rid of important enemy cards, e.g. in mana burn or combo deck types and to get faster to the lost soul in mirror matches than my opp. Miraculous Snare for an early removal (especially against mana burn cards like Grash) and ofc Marino to get a draw three in almost 90 % of all cases. I played three of Loco and Clamp a long time, but due to our meta changing to more handguard cards, I decided to max out Loco and cut Clamp down to two. Four Craze to have high chance to play her and Bluum ofc, because it is Bluum.

    Thoughts
A playset of Craze is the most important core in this deck – two or three are definitely too little. It’s your key card to gain field control and swing for game. Although, the amount of mono blue cards is as small as possible to get a maximum draw with Marino (and in 90 % of all cases I get a draw three). Balanced, strong and consistent deck with a lot of draw and discard and six big finishers.

    Very good list.
I like that you go for 4x Craze Valkyre too...
    Definitely necessary in Marino!

Slash Charger is spicy.. i'd like to see how it performs.

    Very good list indeed.
I wonder if Zombie Carneval can work with 15 Initiates (maybe 16 if you add another Tajimal).

Yep. Zombie Carnival is super strong.
Im testing 2 in Marino right now.

Something nice about Zombie is that you dont have
that much T5 plays in Marino.

Same goes for Petrova -> Good race support and T5.

Yeah that's true but you don't play Zombie on T5 and if you do it is usually a worse Morbid for 1 more mana. There must be a very specific situation where you actually play it on T5 and it is better than Morbid e. g. your opponent playing Clamp and you discard 2 Initiates and your Sarius got destroyed earlier somehow (or maybe a second discard spell like Ghost Touch not discarding your Zombie but an Initiate?).

But it has shield trigger going for it which is nice.

Carnival is definitely a good receycle option as you already mentioned. But imo the most important aspect is that you neither play it in turn 5 nor in turn 6. The only good way to use it's advantage is if it comes out of the shields. Turn 5 is obviously reserved for Marino. Therefore Morbid or Corpse can do the same job for less costs, especially important for the late or mid game to bring out Craze or Bluum after you got them back from the grave. On the other hand usually there aren't that much creatures in the grave to use Carnivals advantage, most of the times Morbid does the same job Very Happy

But maybe I should give Carnival a try and test it for some games to filter out which grave receycle fits better in this deck.

Thanks for your suggestions, really appreciate that! Smile

Petrova is a good option and maybe worth a try. Could make some room for her and test it. But usually either one of the four Crazes do the job. If she is too weak and Baza is on it's way, then Bluum will finish the rest of it. From experience, there are not that much situations I relied on that 4k power boost, but yes, maybe two Petrova could find a way for some test matches Cool

Thanks for your suggestions, really appreciate that! Smile
