TCG + Format Empty TCG + Format

    Post by OcaVan 19.11.17 14:11

I was inspired by Bronze-Arm-Sloths originally post http://www.duelmasters.org/t186-a-rather-interesting-question.

As the TCG was discontinued with DM12 in 2006 we missed the last of the 'Holy Fist Sage' Block-Set DM-13 with hostile multi-civ cards as focus.
DM-14 to DM-17 continues with the "new" (back then it was new...) corssgear card type, which is a sort of equippable armor for creatures. I guess that some or most of the TCG players have a glimpse at those sets already some time ago and you most likely now what i refer to.

I would love to see a TCG + Format that incluse all OCG sets up to DM-18 (which is a 'best of' card set). There can be for sure some balancing problems with those sets if you check the official site:
    http://dm.takaratomy.co.jp/rule/regulation/
    or
http://www.duelmasters.org/t46-the-official-banned-and-restricted-list-in-ocg (which isn't maybe up to date)

But how should we try this out? I still have some DM-13 and DM-15 irl cards, but how about TCG duelists? Wouldn't it be better to try it out with Online Duelling Platforms first?

Anyway. What do you think? Is this topic even worth to talk about or is there no chance to enhance to TCG Format?

I personally also cry about some card that were never released, not all but many, also many less interesting „side cards“, these which no one cares about or which are never played or even come into thoughts, wouldn’t even affect the gameplay, yet some would totally kill it.
I would love to use cross gears, hand evos and stuff. Also i built some „expanded tcg“ format decks already on octgn. If you wanna talk about these as well, feel free to message me Smile

    Good idea on this ocavan!

" Is this topic even worth to talk about or is there no chance to enhance to TCG Format?"

it definitely is and i have started talking with bronze arm sloth about it.
(we are making proxies of the dm 13-dm 17 cardpool right now.)

its just a matter of time when TCG might get a bit boring or people might want a refreshing twist.
still keeping the speed of TCG format and having old beloved staples.i dont think all the communities played the the 10+ years after the game ended. most people started 3-4 years ago and while the meta and the cardpool is changing ( playerbase-restricted lists) it might get boring in some years or lets say more people might be interested in a "TCG+ format"

good news for you: there is already a dm 17 format, people play it. some OCTGN players as well as people in romania.

the dm 17 format that the playerbase uses the ocg cardpool though: aquan at 1 and skeleton vice at 1
    clamp etc. doesnt exist.

but one could adjust that as well.

this format is actually the favorite format of the user the user @LOGIC , right? =)

some people play it and i am about to do that too.

about just till Holy Fist Saga (dm13) : at first looking at some of the cardpool i thought that its indeed a shame that dm 13 wasnt released/snt part of TCG considering its the last block of a set and it has a lot of  great cyberlords light bringers  and other support for decks that need it to be a bit more competitive
but dm 13 some rush cards that seem to be problematic at first glance like: joes toolkit and jasper, the stubborn.

and the anti rush card is in dm 14 Sad hells scrapper)

wish TCG format had this card.

still, i am up for a dm 13 duel if anyone is interested.

also : there is actually a dm 12!! card (promo)that wasnt released in english

    http://duelmasters.wikia.com/wiki/Glaris,_Electro-Spirit

its a Boost for alcadeias and pegasus decks, which really need it.

this is not the format LOGIC plays but is more like a TCG+ format.

Kaijudo Portal played with this list

TCG+? Sounds really fun. I'd certainly play the hell out of it, especially with the cool cards like the crossgears that were released in the sets that came out after the TCG ended.

I know i started this thread but it doesn't i want to play it online. (i can offer duels with thise cards over skype/webcam)
It's always more fun for me to duel with the real life cards but i think you guys could check this TCG Format + out on your favourie online duwling platform and you can tell here how your experiences were amd/or post TCG + Format Decks in the Deck building section. And who knows, like @Coriler said, it's maybe only a matter of time when TCG players will start to make their first experiences with OCG.
I would be espicially intersted in seeing decks with 'stong' or 'maybe unblanaced' cards (those which are restricted or were in the past, f.e. Bajula Soul. I'm excited how this developes!

Thanks for your interest so far!

    @OcaVan

bajulas soul is a staple and broken card indeed from what i have seen.

i already dueled with some dm 13 decks vs @Pakhi.

some of these are fun decks/test decks just to try some cards out:

-armorloid petrova with stronghold and meermax

-Hydrooze with animatrain(fun build) and akashic third
-> animatrain as an early gonta will then be used as bait mid/lategame
-> akashic third...maybe i should tech some billion degrees lol

GRUB with akashic 1st/2nd and honorary restriction of flames spear/waters blade

pegasus with glaris, electro spirit (will do alcadeias soon)

    FW Rush

    Starnoid with rielle/polaris

a lof of cards that mill, supporting cloned decks

and more general support that influences the tcg cardpool/deck diversity in apositive way

i remember dueling @Xephon with my TCG decks he had a lot of dm13 and i think just til dm 13 IIRC
    (stronghold,jasper etc.)
wish i was interested in this before...sadly he quit.

The easiest format for a OCG beginner would be DM-13. After getting a hang of that format DM-17 (No Clamps, Aquan present etc.) is a very good and rather established format already. Then I think DM-39 or straight-out OCG would be a great continuation step.

The best way of enjoying these formats would be online since real life old-school DM cards are difficult to get, even when ordered straightly from Japan. Another option would be - as @coriler mentioned - proxying out Japanese cards. The problem with proxying is that it's time consuming and it really feels wrong especially if your whole deck is made of proxies. Still, making proxies is a viable option for those who would rather duel physically than online.

    @OcaVan

i build like 5-6 dm-13 decks (with the  ocg cardpool+banned list of that time)

and 6-7 dm 17 format decks

if you are interested we can duel on OCTGN

if you dont want to, just watch me and @pakhi play if he has time again.

dm 13 and dm 17 is basically the same as TCG just better from what i have seen.

its exciting adding new cards and powering up decktypes with the "new" cardpool while not powercreeping too much.

Very cool idea. I had a similar idea years back.

It's been a while since I've gone through the card lists but I remember being really gutted for missing out on Pacific Champion. Laughing

shoot me a message if you are a up for some dm 13 games on OCTGN

    this is my Banlist suggestion:

    TCG+ (Set 13)Banned List

    All OCG/TCG exclusives allowed
Basically TCG/OCG format to set 13 with both both cardpools.
Deck size limit Rule is the TCG rule of 40+

    Banned/at 0
    Bombazar, Dragon of Destiny
    Skeleton Vice
Slash Charger (or unrestricted with errata)
The Grave of Angels and Demons (punishes theme decks)

    Restricted/at 1:
Cranium Clamp (instead of skeleton vice at 1)
    Aquan
Judgement of the Flame's Spear and the Water's Blade
    Astral Reef
    Cyber Brain
    Deep Operation
    Streaming Shaper

    Cloned Nightmare(Errata)
Choose a card at random in your opponent's hand. Then, for each Cloned Nightmare in YOUR graveyard, you may choose another card at random in your opponent's hand. Your opponent discards all those cards.

    Slash charger (Errata)
    Search your deck.
You may take a card from your deck and put it intoyour graveyard.
    Then shuffle your deck.
Or reveal the top 3 cards of your opps deck and
put one of them into the graveyard and shuffle the rest back into the deck.
(or just mill the top card?)

    - Charger (After you cast this spell, put it into your mana zone instead of your graveyard.)

    Reasoning:
now with more restricted cards available, its unfair to hit the opps 1-ofs.
also hiting evos especially avatars is unfair.
restricted cards in the opps deck or unrestricted with errata)
keeping the "milling your own cards effect" and then setting up combos
is fun and fair (cloned spells, fill the grave with creatures for recycling)
