Made this version for DM Reborn's adjusted list (1x Clamp, 2x Swap, 1x Corile). 2nd place woo!  

Went with Cloned Nightmare to give me the power of clamp, which worked well

Didn't miss Corile too much! Used Miraculous Snare to try and have some answer to early game beatsticks. Probably needed more attention to that side of the game, did end up losing 3-2 to Petrova Aggro in the final.

Could use some suggestion on better mid game defense.

I think your midgame defense is pretty fine with skysword (you could max out on it though). Maybe try something with Yuliana (as it can´t be targeted by all the early game removal fire decks have) and/or Pala Olesis to further boost your defensive guys. But like I said I think it is good the way it is without any additions.

Petrova is clearly a problematic card for your deck, because it´s lacking those nice fire removal cards that can get rid of it. My suggestion regarding Petrova would be discarding it (you can already do that with Cloned Nightmare and Lost Soul) or maybe adding 1-2 Holy Awes to tap it and then run over it. Holy Awe would give your deck a nice defensive boost too. The problem that comes with that is that your deck lacks powerful mid game creatures maybe you could try something like Lukia Lex (a really good card in the absence of Corile).

Did you think about switching Dark Reversal for Morbid Medicine? I think Morbid is clearly the superior card of those two. And why did you opt to not play the one of Corile? Just curious if there was a reasoning behind that or if you just felt like one was not worth a spot in your deck?

If you run black, then Photocide could be a good option against those non-targetable cards like Petrova (or even Ailzonius, if you have to play against him) beside Holy Awe. It doesn't cost that much and you have a massive mana boost with BAT and Skysword.
And, as @Darksigner said, Reversal < Morbid, definitely a better option imo.

Totally forgot about Photocide he is indeed a perfect counter against Petrova/Ailzonius. Even better in a format where Corile is at 1 so it is harder to get rid of him.

Photocide may actually be good! There's enough light in this style meta to make it "okay" in the mirror.

I don't think that's true about Morbid. The value in Reversal is that it's cost is 2 - so in the ramp games, you can easily launch the retrieved card.

Sort of possible with Morbid, but way harder. A lot of the late game here is multiple cards going off (usually to recycle Swap/Fortress)

1x Corile felt pointless. I played a lot of him in the DWF meta - started to notice 3x made more sense as the game went on.

If the custom list didn't restrict it to 1, I'd probably have tried to fit in 2-3.

In this scenario, felt Surfers were more helpful
