DM MONARCH FORMAT Empty DM MONARCH FORMAT

    Post by Secret_Wyvern 28.02.17 16:17

Hate the stale state(no offence to TCG players, I actually really like TCG, but alot of the decks are the same or just bad) of TCG? Tired of the current meta of the OCG? Want to try something a bit different? Well here's a format for you!
And it's name is, Monarch Format
This format is based on a combination of Magic the gathering's Tribal Wars format and the Commander format
For those who don't know Tribal Wars is a constructed casual format in which one-third of every deck must be of a single creature type.
And Commander is a singleton format where you select a legendary creature as your commander and you deck can only contain cards with colors matching colors on the commander

So these are the deck building rules of the format

-You must have selected one Creature(any type of main deck creature except forbidden creatures) and select it as your Monarch
-You can not have any copies of your monarch in your deck
-Your main deck must be at least 40 cards, and there is no limit for how many cards you can have in your deck, but all cards in your deck must have the same civilizations as your Monarch. For example if you have a Fire monarch you cant have a fire/nature card in your deck since your monarch isn't nature
-At least 50% of your creatures must fall under the same creature race as a race of your monarch. However similar races (humans+human bakus, all the dragons) count as the same race for this
-Hyperspatial Zone creatures do not fall under this restriction if at least one side matches (example: one side fire/other side water)
-We have no hall of fame except for Bombazar who is at 0 and Jolly the Johnny Joe who's at 1 for now. We will see what cards are too powerful for the format and act quickly banning/resticting too powerful cards
-HOWEVER all Revchange/invasion cards are disabled

    Now the actual rule changes!
-Your monarch sits off to the side, you may play them any time you could as if they were in your hand. When ever they would leave the battle zone they go back to their monarch slot, but they're counted as going to the specified zone (if a card says they go to the graveyard and have an effect that activates when a card goes to the grave that effect activates)
-Every time your monarch is removed from the battle zone but a counter on it. For every counter it costs 2 more. Counters count as seals for card removal effects
-If you have a Colorless Monarch you can use both Zero and Joker, but Joker effects that require jokers will not activate from Zero cards, you need actual Joker cards
    -Standard DM rules apply otherwise

And that's Monarch format! I'm expecting maybe a few people to be interesting but most to just call me stupid, well bring it on!

Interesting, I have heard about commander format and just recently heard from Yami Michael that in japan DM Commander format exists in some format and even has some kind of restricted and banned list.

Have you came up with the Monarch format or is it something you have seen somewhere? New formats are a nice way to give fresh feeling to the game.

The monarch format is something I created, though since Yami Michael said there was a DM commander format I guess that I just came up with an idea that already existed :/

I wasn't aware of it before this day, either. It's probably easier to try it out since it already has some kind of restriction list and Yami Michael is working on the DM Commander rules.

It might take a while; I'm also eagerly waiting for them since it sounds great so far.

There actually was a format for Kaijudo also based on MTG-commanders format.

It was named Monarch because of the http://kaijudo.wikia.com/wiki/Monarch cards.

Your monarch has to be a three star rare or higher (promos with no stars count as 3 stars)
Your deck consists of 75 cards (74 card deck + 1 Monarch)
You start the game with 8 shields.
You can only use two copies of any card excluding your Monarch which you can only have one of.
In a multiplayer game the starting player draws a card on their first turn.
If your Monarch would be sent to the discard pile you may put it back into The Veil. It may be re-cast later but each time you cast it after the first it will cost two additional mana.
The Veil is the zone where your Monarch sits and is considered removed from play until you cast it.
Your deck can only be made of cards from the civilization and allied civilizations of your Monarch.

Oh, it makes sense. I haven't really looked into Kaijudo TCG since Duel Masters has been more than enough... well... Duel Masters for me. Those Monarch creatures are so strong! Kaijudo got way more powerful cards than DM TCG.

The Monarch feel like they would be the leader of their civs, which is great to fit their purpose, they are a lot like the Zenith.

The last few sets did get the benefit of many other years of later DM design.

Not only Meteorburn (Unleash) as well as evo-creatures that evolve on race...they saw Gachinko Judge (Clash) as well.

You really should look into some of the cards sometime, even if not to play it. Its interesting from a design standpoint.

Shura Beethoven Banned, Hamukatsu and damama cannot be commander, dogiragon (not buster), miracle star time caster, wild safari channel banned in 3+ civilizations, Sapphire wisdom banned.

He already doesn't allow Rev Change.

And if its a 1v1 format unlike the EDH, the Sapphire Wisdom isn't needed. (I get the joke though.)
