    Gladiators (LW) 4b92b410

After a lot of testing, here is my finished version of LW Gladiators! Very happy with it for now, as it has been doing very very well in testing against a variety of decks (namely Marino, FN Rush, Phal, Hydrooze, LW liquid people etc). The deck lost only to Bombazar Blue, Wise Starnoid and RUB control (mainly because of Meltdown).

The idea of the deck is to quickly summon Ailzonius on turn 5, then following it up with Petrova, making Ailzonius nearly impossible to deal with. After that you build up defense and keep spamming more Ailzonius and blockers. This gameplan is extremely hard to deal with once it gets going, and the deck only seems to lose if it is beaten before these combos hit the field. Once Ailzonius gets going, you just defend yourself while Ailzonius keeps swinging, until you are in position to finish the game. Also having Petrovas om the field that are also immune to targeting, is extremely useful lategame when taking down the opponents shields. So this is a great and very unique deck, that i am very happy with so far! So i would now like to hear what you guys think!

It's always a joy to read your Threads.

I really like your deck. I love it!
You build it around Ailzonius and try to maximate his awesome power and effect.

Have you tried Syrion and Ilusionary Merfolk?

Ilusionary Merfolk could help with draw, because the Weakness of this deck is Discard as you stated. lol!

All in all = Crazy Deck king

@Halfar yeah Syrion i tried in the first builds, but it never really did me any good. Sure it has high power and all, but really what this deck wants to do is just let Ailzonius do the attacking, while the rest of your creatures defend while all being powered up by Petrova. Due to Ailzonius effect, it can fearlessly just swing into your opponents shields without worries, as nothing can touch him. Then as soon as i see a chance to finish the game, i go for it (often with the help of Awe). I attack with the smaller creatures first, and then let Ailzonius and Petrova go last, as they are safe from potential triggers. Syrion is okay, but this deck really doesnt need him, nor can i find room for him.

When it comes to Merfolk, i havent added him yet, as this is a rather aggresive deck for its type. And Ailzonius and Petrova are the main things i wanna see on turn 5. If i can manage to summon Ailzonius on turn 5 and start winning (which you easely do with x4 copies + draw power), it is very very difficult for your opponent to answer for the next few turns. The deck has turned out to be extremely effective the way it is now, and i just dont feel like Merfolk fits the decks gameplan. I might be wrong tho, so i will try it out. You never really fully know if something works or not, until you test it! Very Happy

Good explanation of why you dont run this cards !
I have a feeling that merfolk could be strong in this deck but the problem could be too that then you would run too much 5 mana drops.

I have a question, is it necessary that you run 4x Tajimal?
I would try -1 Taj +1 Stream because discard is a big problem for Ailzonius.

@Halfar usually no, but as i have mentioned my meta includes Bombazar, which makes a playset of Tajimal a must in all light/water decks.

@Halfar because it exists, and we are just used to it being a thing now. I honestly also find it kind of fun to try to deal with it, and it makes for a more competitive meta. Yeah the card is bananas, but it was never banned in TCG, so we just kept using it, and we really dont mind.

@Steelix yeah i do have a lot of japanese cards in the deck, but it is actually a TCG deck still. All the japanese cards on the picture actually exist in english as well. I dont know much about the japanese exclusive part of the game either, but i buy a lot of english-printed cards in japanese because they are cheaper and easier to come by. Im guessing the cards you don't recognize are the two cards in the top left corner of the picture. Those are Tajimal Vizier of Aqua at the top left, and Aqua Surfer next to it. The other japanese cards are Energy Stream, Emeral, Holy Awe, Petrova Channeler of Suns and Warlord Ailzonius. Hope this helps Very Happy

I have a question for you @LordSommerhill. Do you tested an ailzonius deck with nature instead of water?

@Halfar no i havent tried it with nature. I suppose it could work, but im pretty sure water is better. Nature doesnt have card advantage cards like Hulcus and Stream, nor does it have a shield trigger as good as Surfer. And that also means you dont get Tajimal, which is also very important. I dont see what nature would give this deck that would live up to those cards. Could still be fun to try tho, but i would probably rather run all 3 civs then, rather than to switch water for nature.

I dont wanted to say that Nature would be better, i just were interested lol!

I think it could work but as you said, i would rather add nature than replace water.

@Halfar i guess i can try. Which cards do you think would do this deck good? Im thinking Rumbling Terahorn, Soulswap and maybe Faerie Life/Bronze Arm Tribe. A turn 4 Ailzonius would be something haha
