This is the first Heaven's Gate deck i built on tco and no matter how i built it, i die around 10 times using it and only won once. Tried Fixing it and it still dies a freaking hell lot. Any suggestions? It's a private deck so i will just screencap it.



The concept is always using Heaven's Gate to spam multiple Heavens and Lord Reis and fill the battle zone with blockers to summon Alpharion. However everytime i try it i get outpaced silly, usually when opponent has the perfect counter against my stuff (Discards etc.) or i don't get fast enough and opp literally counter locks me. Is there anything to improve here?

I'm not that up to date with OCG anymore, but I'd say your deck is way too expensive. You have good drawing gear implemented there but most of the cards cost 7 mana or more. Oriotis is an exception. Also, your shield trigger count is pretty love, so I would probably add Kernel, Blue Stagnation Dragon Elemental.

I don't duel irl.

Ignore that, but that's sadly the price of running HG. I actually do want to completely reconstruct the deck however. Thinking because there is just too many stuff to add while the 40 card limit is too crammy.

When he says "too expensive" he means in terms of too many high costing cards, not the cards prices.

In the other hand this is a perfectly working Heaven's Gate that i also built with my hands. This one is mono light just to make sure. It currently wins more than half of the time.

True, but it was a bit unclear, I get that.

If that other deck is working, maybe it's just then about the cards being more suitable for the meta used on TCO then.

I must say the deck works pretty well nowadays, handle rush very well...

As an additional note while heaven's gate works well against soft rushes like maltnext and redzone, it's very terrible against 5c controls.

I tried it against Edowaado's AEIOU deck and i know it; The guy doesn't even use the destructive shit i use in my 5c controls (VAN Beethoven, Onimaru "Head", Shura Beethoven etc.), the guy simply chipped away my defenses using Niga=Vermut's effect (He suicided everything onto neverlast to put all my blockers to mana zone) and discarded me with bolas. Oriotis could stall them a bit but they can run fixed removal or rapid mana acceleration anyway.

And against hard rushes like the irou95 guy is frequently using right now, no heaven's gate in shields and you are dead.

well this deck is made before DMR-23 release, so yeah, now it can be somehow weakened, because it couldn't add anything from the new set while the other decks did add something.

Does it feel bad when REV or in this case Gate is falling down?

It's quite an achievement for irou95 how he as a mainly TCG duelist managed to start crushing many decks on TCO using his Human Rush and even got reputation for that.

Adding shield triggers / Aqua Super Emeral ciould prevent that from happening that easily, but Rush and Aggros aren't that easy to be dealt with.

UPDATE:

Eventually there's a similar deck to my version which i found out on supersolenoid. I tweaked it a bit to deal with Onikamas and this is all it took for the decktype to work!
